Salem Montessori School (SMS) established in 1974 is a small private school (maximum enrollment
of 25) for children 2 1/2 to 5 years of age, committed to the principles and philosophies of the
Montessori method as interpreted by the Association Montessori Internationale (A.M.I.).  The goals of
the Salem Montessori School are to maintain the highest educational standards, and to provide a
peaceful and harmonious environment in which children may grow and learn at their own pace.

The school is located on a 1/3 of an acre with off road parking in North East Salem approximately 1.7
miles NE of the Oregon State Capitol Building (See the map on “contact us” tab).  It is also less than a
block away from Oregon State Fair Grounds.

Salem Montessori School is licensed by the Oregon Child Care Division and is a member of the
Oregon Montessori Association.  The school is not affiliated with any religious or political organization.
Registration is open to all without regard to race, religion, color or creed.

We follow the traditional school year calendar which is from September to mid June.  SMS offers a full
day and morning only (AM) programs.  Summer school will be available only for students enrolled in
the traditional school year and their eligible siblings.

COMMITMENT AND EXPECTATIONS FROM PARENTS:

The Salem Montessori School, of course, hopes that all the parents of our children are involved in
understanding the depth and scope of their children's work.  We expect to work closely with our
parents simultaneously supportive of each other.  The strength of a private Montessori program
depends on the commitment of the parents to continuing the quality of their children's education.
